Characters

Hailing from the isle of Murkcrest, a mist-laden land isolated from the rest of the realm, the Dor'wynn family has practiced their faith and traditions unhindered for hundreds upon hundredes of years, without contest, without contention - or so the noble families who uphold the status quo will tell you.
Wildbound is comprised of a cast of characters, all related, who struggle with the roles in their life - the roles they've chosen and the roles foist upon them - and their relationships to one another as they struggle to either break down the heavy-handed traditions that bind them to their duties, or uphold them unto their last.

The Elves

Velayn Dor'wynn

Inquisitive, kind-hearted and obedient, as the only female child of the current Dor’wynn line, Velayn stands in the prime position to inherit wardenship of the Murkcrest Isles when her aunt passes; there’s only one problem - the Dor’wynn women are all shapeshifters… except for Velayn. Though she’s yet to partake in the coming of age Trials of her people, she hears the forest sing inside of her in a way that her mother and aunts do not - she knows it’s not a magic meant for her, a deviation from the norm, and having this anomaly discovered frightens her to no end.

Tassandria Dor'wynn

Brash, foul-mouthed and selfish, Tassandria is a far cry from a picture perfect mother - perhaps, then, it’s best she spent most of her daughter’s earliest days far from the isle they call home. Empowered by the spirit of the stag god, Alohma, Tassandria shares her patron god’s form of a stag when she slips from her skin, and his duty and desire for wanderlust. She longs to be far from the Murkcrest Isles, but the ties that bind her through blood bid her back, and bend her will to the whims of her sisters. Caught between her own yearning for freedom, and earnest concern for her daughter’s future should she turn the ire of her sister, Halya, further upon her branch of the family tree, Tassandria traipses on a dangerous line between what she knows to be right, and what soothe the ancient wounds that fester between herself and her eldest sister.

Halya Dor'wynn

Austere, motherly, and indomitable, Halya rules the Murkcrest Isles as they have been ruled for ten-thousand years; by the same laws, the same principles, the same traditions as her mother, and her mother before her, and her mother before her… Halya believes tradition is the stable foundation upon which their society sits, and will not compromise the ancient laws that define her people for anything - or anyone. Blessed by the twin gods Usa and Uso, Halya’s reign is markedly different now that her twin, Hadrya, is no longer at her side.

Orellia Dor'wynn

Subdued, submissive, and oft-times silent, Orellia is the middle sister of the high council that rules the Murkcrest Isles, charged with the defense of the Isles and its people. Too timid to draw the ire of either of her more volatile sisters, Orellia is often unwilling to cast her vote in political matters, and abstains perpetually. Where she truly stands on most matters is a mystery even to her sisters, both of whom use her as a sounding board and pin cushion for their frustrations.

The Gods

Alo'ma

The Stag God, associated with wanderlust, dreamwalking, and flightiness, those who bear the blessings of Alo’ma serve as the eyes of the Dor’wynn family to the outside world. Due to their ability to dreamwalk - to travel, metaphysically, great distances and connect with the minds of those who are asleep while they themselves stay awake - those who are the Stags chosen are often sent abroad and die on foreign soil.

Usa and Uso

The Bear Gods, the twins Usa and Uso are always bound together, and represent the dichotomy of motherhood; Usa represents is the Caretaker, the softer, nurturing side of motherly affection and devotion, while Uso is the Warrior, the fearless, fervid, fiercely devoted aspect that will defend those beneath her protection to the death. Those empowered by the Bear Twins are often placed in positions of power and leadership, stemmed from the belief that the dichotomy between the twins and the struggle between their intrinsic natures will result in balanced decision making.
